Dear Mellor Clan:
It is with sadness and relief that Dick Young breathed his last breath yesterday afternoon. He had gone downhill with COPD and pneumonia for a long period of time. He was very weak and would not have been able to enjoy life as we do now. His children, a grandson and I were at his bedside at Sutter Roseville Hospital. A memorial service will be scheduled for September or early October. Joan Young
I have received the following update from Jeff. Check out the album he posted to Flickr!
There is no need to put up the river board this year and maybe for years to come as a very big log has lodged itself between the big rock in the middle and where the other log is still located.
No damage to the cabin, but lots of downed branches.
Much of the yellow stain is flaking off.
The neighbor cabin 5 had a tree come down taking their power lines with it, no evidence they have been there.
Cabin 3 folks were up.
The road is driveable but has some water on it as the drain ditch at the road is blocked and running across the road.
The river is still very high, but beautiful.
Climbers were on Hogsback.
There are four horizontal external bare light bulbs, and one vertical in the annex.
The Forest Service Permit, and the O&M Plan have been uploaded to the site. View them here.
